    WASHINGTON — More than 40 Democratic members of WASHINGTON — More than 40 Democratic members of Congress wrote a letter to President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. 

This request asked them to grant temporary protected status to Cameroonians living in the U.S. by placing an 18-month pause on their deportations, according to a copy of the letter obtained by NBC News.

Do you recall the poet Maya Angelou?

Maya Angelou was a civil rights activist, poet, and award-winning author. Her most famous memoir in 1996 was 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made history as the first nonfiction bestseller by an African American woman.

Angelou was born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. She had a rough childhood where her parents split up when she was very young. Because she is African American, racial prejudice was pretty common back in her hometown in Arkansas.
