Cameroon Gov’t accuses Ambazonia separatists of torching Kumba hospital
The government has accused separatist fighters of setting fire on the Kumba district hospital in the early hours of Monday that led to at least four persons dead and several properties destroyed.
Communication Minister Rene Emmanuel Sadi said in a communiqué that about 20 armed secessionists arrived the hospital before taking it hostage and shooting in the air.
The armed men then entered the hospital, setting fire which consumed the surgical wards as well as other essential units of the hospital.
The attack left four persons dead, amongst them two patients while seven vehicles belonging to personnel of the hospital were completely razed, the Minister of Communication said.
The government of Cameroon condemned such “barbaric acts” and reassured the population of the North West and South West regions of its committment to protect them.
