A journalist working for Radio Bonakanda, a community radio station in Buea was kidnapped on Tuesday by unidentified armed men, sources say.
May Namondo was kidnapped on duty after armed men stormed ther radio station threatening to set it ablaze before taking the journalist away, sources said.
Th identity of her kidnappers remains unknown but the station manager of Radio Bonakanda Amos Evande is reported to have said he called the line of the journalist but a male voice in turn replied and said they are keeping her and promised to call back before dropping the call.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnap as te location of the journalist remains unknown.
Recently, armed men stormed the Bonakanda locality and dispered a crowd that was watching an interquarter competition and ordered matches to be stopped while warning organisers to put a halt to the competition or ‘face the consequences’.
